Week Six Preview: Houston vs. Tulane

GAME DETAILS

WHERE: Yulman Stadium

WHEN: 6:30 p.m. CT Thursday

WATCH IT ON: ESPN

RADIO: KPRC 950 AM

SERIES HISTORY: Houston and Tulane are meeting for the 26th time overall including the fourth consecutive season on a Thursday night. Thursday marks the 19th meeting in the last 20 years between the two programs. Houston has won 14 of the last 17 matchups (2003-present).

Here’s what you need to know as a Houston fan for Thursday’s game.

There are three Houston players to be on the lookout for to stand out against Tulane.

1. Senior Cornerback Marcus Jones who leads the nation with two punt return touchdowns. Jones is the fifth player in the school’s history and the first since 1968 to record multiple punt return touchdowns in a season. Jones is someone who makes the most of every chance he gets. Jones is a dual-threat with one thing in mind and that is scoring.

2. Quarterback Clayton Tune who leads The American conference and ranks 11th nationally with a 71.3 completion rate.1.

3. True freshman running back Alton McCaskill, who is tied for first nationally against other true freshmen in total touchdowns. McCaskill rushed for three touchdowns against Tulsa last game, and that gives him seven over the last four contests.

Last week, Houston made a statement in a 45-10 victory over the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Houston played explosively with a strong defense thanks to defensive coordinator coach Doug Belk. The Cougars are 10th in the nation in scoring defense, if Houston's defense plays as strongly as last week’s game, they can easily dominate Tulane. If Houston wins, this will move the team to 3-0 in AAC play, the best start for Houston since 2018. It would also be Houston's third-straight road win -- the longest since winning four straight on the road in2015.
