Webb Talks Commitment

The Houston Cougars continued to piece together their 2013 recruiting class with a big recruiting weekend that saw them bring in a ton of official visitors from both the high school and junior college ranks.
One player that has been considered a Cougar lean for a while now is Shreveport (LA) Evangel Christian running back Javin Webb who picked up his offer from the Cougars mid-way through the season, came in for one of the Cougars' home games and finally pulled the trigger on his official visit this weekend.

Although Webb was a standout for Evangel this season as a running back it seems a position change could be in his future once he lands on the Houston campus next summer.
"I got a chance to talk with the defensive backs coach (Zac Spavital) and he told me about how they only had two scholarship cornerbacks left and that I would have a real good chance to crack the two-deep line-up and get some playing time as a freshman," said the 5-foot-9, 185 pound athlete. "Between cornerback and some special teams things like kick return and punt return I should be able to play right away."
Webb enjoyed his visit this weekend with teammate and fellow Cougar commit Josh Thomas who has been committed to the Cougars for quite some time and has been in Webb's ear since he picked up the Houston offer.
"I really love the city of Houston and the atmosphere around the program," said the Rivals two star prospect. "Josh is my lineman so we have a good relationship. He has been telling me to commit to Houston since I first got offered by them back after we played Calvary and they first saw me. We both feel like Houston is a pretty good fit for us so we are glad to be committed there."
Although he feels solid in his commitment to the Cougar he admits he will still explore his options and hear what other teams have to say including a likely upcoming trip to visit Texas State who has been recruiting him but has not offered him a scholarship yet.
"I'm going to still explore my options and see what else there is," said Webb. "I plan on going to Texas State in January and if any more teams come around during the break I'm going to do my research and check them out too."
Webb had a tremendous senior year for Evangel taking over as the feature back when district play began. He and Thomas helped lead their team to the 2A State Title Game in the Superdome where they fell to John Curtis.
