OPINION: My top 3 Houston players

With the season nearly halfway through, here are my top three players in 2021 so far.

1. Marcus Jones

Jones started out as a corner for the Houston Cougars in 2020 after transferring from Troy. Jones is really good at catching the ball giving him receiver qualities that allow him to dominate on special teams as a returner. Jones is one of the most versatile players in college football right now making him special and a very valuable player.

2. Logan Hall

Coach Doug Belk has done an incredible job with Houston’s defense and has produced quite a few great defensive players. Defensive tackle Logan Hall is another player I had to add to the list of top players for the Cougars. In the game against Tulane Hall had two sacks making it a total of four for the season. Hall is 6’6″and 275 pounds making him an unstoppable player and the top in his position.

Junior inside linebacker Donavan Mutin is essential to the Cougar's ability to stop opposing halfbacks. Mutin has 35 total tackles, one forced fumble, and one sack this season. Donavan Mutin is an explosive player that has the potential to be a star in his future seasons with the Cougars. Mutin is also a Semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy.
