The Houston Cougars men's basketball team has some critical holes to fill even unexpected positions at an unexpected time.

The University of Houston sophomore guard Tramon Mark has placed his name in the NCAA transfer portal and will leave the program for personal reasons.

This announcement was very unexpected for many fans and some analysts since the Cougars had just finished one of their most successful seasons as a program under head coach Kelvan Sampson.

Mark competed in 76 games with 41 starts during his Houston career. As a redshirt sophomore in 2022-23, he started all 37 games and averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as the Cougars competed in the NCAA Sweet 16 for the fourth consecutive season.

“Houston Basketball thanks Tramon for all his contributions to our program during the last three seasons. We wish him and his family all the best in the future,” Head Coach Kelvin Sampson said.

It was already known that Marcus Sasser and freshman of the year Jarace Walker would be leaving for the NBA draft after the season.
