Gameday prediction: Houston vs. East Carolina

The Houston Cougars and ECU will face one another Saturday at 3 p.m. CT at TDECU Stadium Saturday after both teams had a bye week. The Cougars are facing the Pirates for the first time since 2018, which Houston has won two consecutive and three of the last four in the series. ECU has a 3-3 record and a 1-1 mark in AAC action.

Houston has been playing very good football lately and will probably have lots of wiggle room in this game as they are more dominant than ECU. This is one of the best teams Houston has had since the 2016 season which isn’t good for the Pirates. East Carolina doesn’t have the best pass protection, which is good for the Cougars who have a pretty dominant defense. Houston has only allowed 16.17 points per game which is good for the Cougars but bad for the Pirates.

As far as the offense goes Clayton Tune has been smooth sailing with his adverse style of play, which should rack up points if Tune finds Nathaniel Dell and Jeremy Singleton in the pocket. Houston could produce massive numbers in today’s game if everything goes well. East Carolina’s defense is not the best and will most certainly struggle to try to stop Houston’s offense.

Houston 40, ECU 28
