Lets go O

It's all about the O. The University of Houston is going to keep it going under Coach Kevin Sumlin and his offensive philosophy.

So who's going to be on the field this year and who needs to be called out to step up in 2008. The quarterback position is up in the air, kind of. Case Keenum should be the guy this season with Blake Joseph in the wings.

Protecting the quarterback and opening holes is an offense line that should be deeper this season. Center Carl Barnett has two letters and he will be flanked by senior Michael Bloesch and Chris Thompson. Thompson, the redshirt freshman from Hitchcock, is a winner who has an infectious attitude. He will be a solid starter for years to come. SirVincent Rogers is back after an injury and the big-man Sebastian Vollmer is the coveted left tackle.

Who do I need to see step up? Josh "Freaking" Bell. The 6-foot-5 Bell, initially attended Kansas, before transferring back to Houston. He needs to turn his motor on and get his career going. Now.

With the departure of Terrance Ganaway, Houston is depending on Andre Kohn. Who the heck is this guy? He played sparingly last season but caught a 67-yard touchdown pass in the Texas Bowl. Justin Johnson is a bullish back in short yardage situation. Who could surprise? Fort Bend's Chris Turner could step up, so we'll be watching.

The receiving corps could be the strength of the offense. Houston can go big with tight end Mark Haffner, Wesley Scourten, L.J. Castille and Chaz Rodriguez. Or they can go small with Patrick Edwards, Tyron Carrier, Chris Gilbert and Kierre Johnson. Of course they will mix it up, but Castile needs to set it off this year and show us this potential we have been hearing about.
