Following each game CougarsDen.com will recognize the standout performers by handing out our game balls. Here are the game balls from Houston's 72-42 loss to SMU on Thursday night.
Charles Sims: Sims earns his third straight game ball in a very tough Houston loss. Though he didn't have a ton of yards on the ground, Sims punched it in the endzone twice on the ground and also had seven receptions for 114 yards and two more touchdowns through the air, earning our MVP of the night.
Daniel Spencer: Spencer had his biggest game of the season thus far and though the team lost, showed many signs of brightness, something positive for Cougar fans to take away from the defeat. Spencer finished the night with seven receptions for 96 yards and one touchdown.
Deontay Greenberry: The true freshman had his biggest game of the season, another positive sign for Houston fans going forward. Greenberry has six receptions for 94 yards and has shown signs of improvement each week.
Everett Daniels: Daniels played a fairly solid game for Houston of defense. The score will not do justice for the defense as it was turnovers that plagued the scoreboard for Houston. Daniels led the night for Houston with 10 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, and the team's only sack of the night.
D.J. Hayden: The senior cornerback had another solid night for Houston on Thursday. Hayden had six tackles, one tackle-for-loss and an interception on a route that he jumped perfectly and took it 75 yards to the house.
