Sooners Aren't Leaving Fresno Any Time Soon





To say the University of Oklahoma is well known around Fresno (Calif.) Central East would be quite the understatement after the 2013 recruiting class. The Sooners signed two members of the Central Grizzlies secondary for last season in Rivals250 defensive back prospects, Hatari Byrd as well as safety/cornerback prospect, L.J. Moore. Even their Rivals250 teammate Johnny Johnson had an offer from Oklahoma though he decided to sign with UCLA.

For the 2014 class the Sooners have already offered Central East's four-star corner and Rivals100 member, Michiah Quick but they haven't stopped there. About a month before signing day head coach Bob Stoops and defensive coordinator Mike Stoops took a trip out to Central East and that's when Smallwood found out Oklahoma had interest in him.

"I guess, coach (Casey Quinn) told me they put in a good word for me and they (Oklahoma) showed up to the school," Smallwood said of when the Sooners began to show interest in him. " I saw the Stoops brothers and I heard they were going to be recruiting me and this was I'd say probably a month and a half ago.
