Lamar Consolidated stable ready to leave barn?
Matt Malatesta
Amidst a playoff run, Lamar Consolidated is trying to balance the recruiting process. Schools of all shapes and sizes are passing through the suburban Houston school to check on the junior and senior prospects. Offensive lineman Jarvis Jones is down to Texas A&M and LSU, while Lavar Brown is closing in on a decision to Nebraska.

Houston -- Sleeper city
Matt Malatesta
The top prospects out of the Greater Houston area have been picked over, but the city of more than four million is loaded with late-blooming sleepers. To date, area leading quarterback Cotton Turner of Dulles, Max Flinn of Belaire and Spring's Nate Poppell have not been offered by a single Division I school. Turner (2,850 yards and 31 touchdowns) is being flirted with by Mississippi State, while Flinn (2,085 yards and 17 touchdowns) has been offered by Blinn Junior College and Stephen F. Austin and Poppell by a few I-AA and Division II schools.
